Job summary

Aqualia - Municipal District Services in Texas seeks a Relationship Manager to oversee client relationships with municipal utility district boards. This role reports to the Vice President of Business Development and serves as the key liaison between boards and MDS operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree or experience equivalent.
  • 2 years’ experience in Water District Contract Management.
  • Ability to communicate with upper management and Board of Directors.
  • Water industry experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to prioritize; excellent time management and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with assigned MUD boards and provides monthly performance information to boards and MDS.
  • Attends all assigned board meetings and serves as liaison between boards and operations staff.
  • Manages the relationship between the assigned MUD boards and MDS.
  • Performs long-term planning to ensure cost-effective service delivery within districts.
  • Monitors financial performance and makes recommendations to management.
  • Markets MDS services to districts based on district needs; acts as backup contract manager when needed.

Job description

Position Overview
Responsible for managing all aspects of the client relationship with assigned municipal utility district boards. Reports to the Vice President of Business Development.
Essential Job Functions


  • Communicates with assigned MUD boards and ensures that boards and MDS are provided on at least monthly basis information about MDS performance within the district. Attends all assigned board meetings. Manages the relationship between the assigned MUD boards and MDS. Serves as the first point of contact for board members and district consultants. Functions as a liaison between board members and operations staff in resolving any issues or problems.

  • Performs long-term planning so that MDS provides services in the most cost-effective manner within assigned districts.

  • Monitors the financial performance of assigned districts and makes recommendations to management, as appropriate.

  • Analyzes the assigned district needs to determine what, if any, other services that MDS offers would be of benefit to the district. Market the service(s) to the district, as appropriate.

  • Functions as a backup contract manager for districts assigned to other contract managers. Periodically attends board meetings in other districts.

  • Other duties as required.


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or experience equivalent

  • Supervisory and Leadership Skills

  • 2 years’ experience in Water District Contract Management

  • Ability to communicate with upper management

  • Ability to communicate with Board of Directors

  • Water industry experience is a plus, but not required.

  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to prioritize; excellent time management and decision-making skills

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well under pressure within a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.

  • Excellent communication, management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to identify issues and solutions and ensure timely project completion with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in various computer applications (flexible and sophisticated enough to work with any accounting system), MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.


Work Environment

  • Physical Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment utilizing modern office equipment and technology and may require sitting for prolonged periods of time using a computer. The incumbent stands, walks, and may twist, reach, bend, crouch and kneel. An incumbent must be able to meet the requirements of the classification and have mobility, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.
