Layer Health is hiring its first Forward Deploy Data Scientist to translate messy healthcare data into actionable insights and ML-ready pipelines. You will work with ML engineers, data scientists, product managers, and customer success teams to validate data, share insights, and ensure measurable value in clinical workflows.

You will design and deploy ML and LLM-based models, validate data pipelines, and collaborate with health systems and hospital IT teams to deliver robust analytics solutions.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of professional experience in data science.
• A strong communicator who thrives in a customer‑facing, fast‑paced environment.
• Strong programming skills in Python and fluency with modern data science and ML/NLP libraries.
• Experience with ML Ops tools (Airflow, MLflow, dbt, Docker, or cloud ML platforms).
• Familiarity with modern applied LLM techniques and their practical implementations.
• Data manipulation, treatment, and evaluation on large datasets.

Responsabilités

• Partner with health systems and hospital customers to understand data, workflows, and goals.
• Design and execute data and ML investigations on large structured and unstructured healthcare datasets.
• Deploy and operationalize ML/LLM-based models and analytics pipelines.
• Collaborate with customer success and product teams to improve user engagement through data‑driven analyses.
• Communicate results clearly to technical, product, and clinical stakeholders.
• Build reusable playbooks, tools, and best practices for future implementations.
• Stay current on ML, NLP, and healthcare data technologies and apply them to real-world problems.
• Contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and rigor across data science and product teams.
• Hybrid work option with Boston or NYC offices 2–3 days per week.
