Job description

An engaged professional is sought who thrives in a team environment and can implement and execute strategic business development objectives and priorities related to a Global Technology Sector that accounts for a significant portion of organizational revenue. The technology practice boasts a top-tier client list and is supported by a substantial team of highly technical lawyers across transactional, litigation, and intellectual property groups. As part of the Client Development team, the primary focus of this role is to execute business development and marketing initiatives that drive awareness, recognition, and enhance brand perception of Technology lawyers, practices, and experience. This role will have the opportunity to work directly with active and prospective clients, market influencers, and organizational leadership.

The Coordinator, Client Development – Technology Sector will support opportunities including events, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships to raise the organization’s profile in key markets, sectors, and practices, as well as develop key messaging for cross-practice pitches, RFPs, and ranking/survey submissions. The person in this role will drive collaboration and coordination among lawyers across practices and geographies, primarily focusing on Artificial Intelligence, Tech, Media & Entertainment (TME), and Emerging Company Venture Capital (ECVC) practices, with support for additional technology initiatives as needed.

  • Support strategic marketing efforts for the global Technology Sector, including business development initiatives, sponsorships, events, content creation, survey submissions, and lateral attorney integration.
  • Support partnerships and sponsorships related to the global Technology Sector.
  • Provide research around tech industry-specific insights and direction to cross-disciplinary professional staff and lawyer-led teams in support of strategic business development objectives and priorities.
  • Act as an advisor by communicating trends, opportunities, and business intelligence influencing industry rankings through research, market analysis, strategy meeting participation, presentation preparation, and special project development.
  • Prepare content for internal meetings with leadership, technology partners, and practice/industry committees and working groups.
  • Collaborate with Communications to co-develop visibility plans that enhance industry brand presence through public relations, events, and award submissions.
  • Plan and communicate ROI on industry events such as conference sponsorships, client presentations, seminars, retreats, client dinners, and other events promoting core technology practices.
  • Oversee client appreciation and business development events related to the Technology Sector, including CLEs/seminars, industry sponsorships, and various sporting, arts, and theater events. Events may occur after hours or on weekends and require full attendance.
  • Oversee drafting and editing of select business development materials, including presentations, electronic updates, and newsletters; track outcomes and maintain records.
  • Advise and assist in planning, creating, and submitting tech-related legal submissions (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500).
  • Assist Business Intelligence teams with research and compilation of company information, executive profiles, industry trends, and competitor information.
  • Ensure proper communication with lawyers, Client Development colleagues, and internal departments to maintain organization-wide information flow.
  • Support a variety of business development initiatives and coordinate special projects as assigned.
  • Assist with reporting of ongoing tech sector metrics, including monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Provide onsite support for various Austin office events and Client Development projects when needed.
Required
  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional services marketing experience, preferably within an AmLaw Top 200 environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the Technology Sector and emerging growth sectors preferred; Corporate and Emerging Company/Venture Capital experience a plus.
  • Ability to work well with lawyers, professionals, and staff; comfortable collaborating with key department personnel; able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate patience, diplomacy, enthusiasm, and perseverance.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment; detail-oriented with strong written/verbal communication, organizational skills, prioritization ability, and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Strong skills in MS Office (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel); working knowledge of Vuture, Foundation, PitchPerfect, and Sitecore a plus.
  • Experience with CRM software; Intapp experience a plus.
  • Comfortable utilizing AI tools in workflow, including Harvey AI and Microsoft Copilot.
  • Comfortable using web-based software and research tools; experience with Pitchbook, Capital IQ, Monitor Suite, Hoover’s, and similar platforms a plus.
Extent of Contact
Internal:
  • High degree of contact within the Client Development department.
  • High degree of interaction with lawyers.
  • Moderate degree of collaboration with other departments (recruiting, professional development, practice management, etc.).
External:
  • Moderate to high degree of contact with accelerators/incubators, industry organizations, conference providers, and other technology-sector organizations.
  • Moderate to high degree of contact with market influencers aligned with strategic tech sector goals.
  • Moderate degree of contact with clients and prospective clients in connection with events and initiatives.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work at a computer and telephone for extended periods.
  • Ability to routinely lift and carry files and items up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to function in both office and work-from-home environments.
  • Extensive telephone and videoconference use required.
  • Ability to lift, squat, kneel, and bend.
  • Ability to meet face-to-face and via phone with lawyers.
Working Conditions & Environment
  • Work is performed in a typical office environment.
  • Full-time position requiring a five-day work week and standard hours; additional evening and weekend hours may be required, especially during peak seasons.
  • Must be available after hours when necessary to meet deadlines or manage workload peaks; flexibility in schedule may be required.
  • Some out-of-town travel, including weekends, may be required.
  • Ability to perform essential duties under time constraints and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
  • Must be able to conduct site visits for event planning.
  • Hybrid schedule requiring at least three days per week in the office, with up to two days remote.
