BBVA USA in New York is seeking a Senior Analyst for the Global Institutional Business NextGen Pool, focusing on Financial Sponsors, client coverage and deal execution across the GIB platform.
You will support Relationship Managers, prepare pitches, perform credit analyses, and coordinate with Risk, Legal, Operations and Product teams across the USA and beyond.
Fluency in English is required; strong Excel/PowerPoint skills and a background in Corporate Banking or Investment Banking are desired.
About the job: About the Area The Global Institutional Business (GIB) CIB unit is responsible for managing and driving business with institutional clients through BBVA’s Corporate & Investment Banking product offering, including Global Markets, Global Transaction Banking, and Investment Banking & Finance. Global Institutional Business is organized across five main sectors: Banks, Insurance, Wealth & Asset Management, Public Sector, and Financial Sponsors. The area has redefined its strategic approach, ASP3N, which aims, among other objectives, to continue strengthening BBVA’s institutional client franchise through a comprehensive front-to-back business transformation. BBVA’s institutional business is structured around two main pillars: product development and a commercial coverage model focused on increasing specialization, enhancing the level of client interaction, and improving commercial processes.
The Senior Analyst will be a member of the Global Institutional Business (GIB) NextGen Pool, supporting client coverage, business development and transaction execution across GIB’s institutional client platform, with a significant focus on Financial Sponsors. The Senior Analyst’s primary responsibility will be to support Relationship Managers in developing, marketing and delivering BBVA’s wide range of products and services to institutional clients. Given the current needs of the business, a significant portion of the role will involve supporting Financial Sponsors relationships and related opportunities, while remaining part of the broader GIB pool. The Senior Analyst will coordinate closely with Relationship Managers and Product partners across the United States, Europe, Latin America and other relevant geographies to support client coverage and transaction execution, including proposal preparation and coordination with Risk, Portfolio Management, Legal, Operations, Finance and other internal teams. The role combines day-to-day client coverage responsibilities with financial and credit analysis, market and sector research, transaction execution and non-routine commercial assignments such as pitches and strategic projects. The position offers the opportunity to progressively deepen Financial Sponsors expertise while continuing to gain broader exposure across the GIB platform.
The Senior Analyst position requires a high level of involvement and responsibility. Senior Analysts are responsible for a substantial amount of financial, credit, market and client analysis and play an important role in transaction execution and client coverage. Senior Analysts are expected to take increasing ownership of assigned workstreams, exercise sound judgement, anticipate next steps and coordinate effectively across multiple internal and external stakeholders. For the clients and assignments they support, Senior Analysts are expected to develop an understanding of client strategy, identify potential business opportunities and connect client needs with BBVA’s relevant product capabilities. Given the focus of this position, the Senior Analyst will be expected to progressively deepen their knowledge of Financial Sponsors, including sponsor strategies, investment activity, portfolio developments and relevant financing and advisory opportunities, while continuing to build broad and transferable Global Banker capabilities.
Senior Analysts play a critical role as members of the Global Institutional Business team. They support Global Relationship Managers across the full range of client coverage activities, from client and sector analysis to live transactions, internal processes and deal execution. Senior Analysts are also expected and encouraged to interact regularly with Product partners, Risk teams and colleagues across geographies to enhance internal coordination and deliver effectively for clients. Given the significant Financial Sponsors focus of this position, the Senior Analyst will work closely with the bankers covering the sector and will have the opportunity to progressively build deeper knowledge of sponsor clients, portfolio companies and the relevant product opportunities associated with those relationships. Additional expectations within the scope of the Senior Analyst role include: Strong knowledge of finance, accounting and credit fundamentals. Ability to meet deadlines and prepare high-quality client and internal materials with strong attention to detail. Successful interaction with Product groups, Risk teams and colleagues across the USA and internationally. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Develop strong knowledge of BBVA’s CIB product offering across Investment Banking & Finance, Global Markets and Global Transaction Banking. Strong work ethic and high degree of proactiveness. Increasing ownership of assigned workstreams and ability to anticipate next steps. Ability to operate effectively across different Senior Bankers, clients and assignments.
Senior Analysts operate within the Global Institutional Business NextGen Pool, working across different Senior Bankers, clients, sectors and assignments based on business priorities and staffing needs. This position will have a significant focus on Financial Sponsors, allowing the Senior Analyst to build greater continuity and progressively deepen their knowledge of the sector, its clients and relevant banking opportunities. At the same time, as a member of the broader GIB pool, the Senior Analyst may support assignments across Banks, Insurance, Wealth & Asset Management and Public Sector based on business needs, staffing requirements and development opportunities. Senior Analysts are expected to progressively deepen their knowledge of the clients and sectors they support, take increasing ownership of assigned workstreams and client-related responsibilities, and proactively identify and follow up on potential business opportunities. While the pool structure is designed to provide broad exposure across institutional sectors, increasing sector specialization is expected as bankers progress in seniority, allowing them to develop deeper sector expertise, stronger client knowledge and, over time, greater ownership of client relationships.
