Job description

Job Overview

Under the direction of the Materials Manager, the individual will pack and prepare customer orders for shipping, receive materials and equipment, and load and unload trucks according to established procedures and shipping regulations, ensuring customer delivery requirements are met.

A Day In The Life

This list of duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be expanded to include other duties as deemed necessary by management.

  • Pick orders from stock or staging area.
  • Prepare products for shipping to customers.
  • Ensure customer order and product match; box, crate, shrink-wrap as necessary.
  • Contact carriers and schedule pick-ups, ensuring delivery requirements are met.
  • Load trucks with outgoing products and unload incoming materials.
  • Inspect materials and verify bills of lading.
  • Verify the quantity and quality of received materials.
  • Store incoming materials appropriately.
  • Pull materials from storage and deliver to production as needed.
  • Affix address labels and any other required labels for handling and shipping.
  • Complete and maintain all necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 1-3 months related experience to familiarize with equipment and processes.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, memos, and correspondence.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group interactions.
  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions and solve problems with concrete variables.
