Job Description

SUMMARY

Cashiers are responsible for collecting, balancing, and depositing all cash and credit card transactions processed at the cashiering location. Candidates must have reliable transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  1. Exhibit a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  2. Perform responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
  3. Maintain departmental standards.
  4. Process cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
  5. Reconcile and balance monetary transactions after each shift.
  6. Complete and balance all daily reconciliation logs.
  7. Update citizen information to record transactions.
  8. Research citizen’s plates/tickets as needed.
  9. Forward escalation situations on behalf of citizens to the customer care department or client(s).
  10. Schedule hearings for citizens.
  11. Respond to inquiries regarding all clients.
  12. Perform duties with a high level of accuracy.
  13. Manage multiple tasks within the department.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Ability to use a ten-key adding machine.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  6. Availability to work all shifts between 7:00 am and 3:00 am, Monday through Sunday.
  7. Scheduling based on the needs of the cashiering site.
  8. Ability to read, write, and speak English and/or Spanish.
  9. Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  10. Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple one or two-step instructions.
  11. Ability to handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  12. Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
