THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services is looking for a motivated individual with strong clerical and multitasking abilities to provide administrative support and supervision for clerical staff at the Crawford County Assistance Office (CAO). DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerical Supervisor 1, you must possess strong leadership skills to provide direction, training, orientation, and support to a team of Clerical Assistant 2s. You will also serve as the site administrator and time keeper. Within this role, you will be responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and providing instructions to clerical staff to ensure accurate and efficient processing of assistance benefits. This professional also assigns work in a fair and equitable manner, identifies personnel problems, and recommends appropriate actions. In addition, you will approve leave requests to maintain adequate coverage and efficiency in the office, as well as provide administrative support to the Executive Director and maintain a working knowledge of office equipment to ensure smooth workflow.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Travel and overtime as needed.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time based on bargaining unit seniority and organizational demands once all other eligibility criteria are met. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Crawford County.
  • Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Crawford County. If no eligible candidates who live within Crawford County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
