Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks a Cleared Senior/Principal Engineering & Systems Integration Professional to lead W93/Mk7 hardware system integration onsite in Albuquerque, NM. You will manage hardware delivery, schedule adherence, risk mitigation, and safety compliance across multiple organizations and federal partners, including Navy and NNSA.

You will coordinate across HTT and multiple design agencies, balance competing interests, and maintain critical safety documentation.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing projects, defining scope, schedules, and tracking progress.
  • Experience applying systems engineering to hardware integration and test execution.
  • Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent to start, with ability to obtain Sigma 15 clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate hardware delivery and integration via the Hardware Task Team (HTT).
  • Coordinate across three design agencies (SNL, LANL, Lockheed Martin) to meet schedules.
  • Negotiate delivery timelines and pedigree requirements with liaisons and PRTs.
  • Update planners/databases and interface with hardware build committees to track delivery and schedules.
  • Assess impacts of schedule changes at NNSA/Navy levels and propose paths forward.
  • Oversee provisioning process for hardware with DoD partners.
  • Support test activities including reporting and MRS/pedigree docs.
  • Maintain the W93/Mk7 Safety Case and hazards controls documentation.
  • Ensure safety compliance for high explosives and special handling procedures.
  • Communicate with Navy and NNSA stakeholders to manage program impacts.

Cleared Senior/Principal Engineering & Systems Integration Professional - W93 Hardware System Integration, Onsite

We are seeking an Engineering & Systems Integration and Implementation Professional to serve as the W93/Mk7 Hardware System Integration Lead. In this key role, you will manage hardware integration, schedule adherence, risk mitigation, and safety compliance across multiple organizations. You will act as a critical liaison among system component liaisons, test leads, Production Readiness Teams (PRTs), hardware build committees, and federal stakeholders including the Navy and the National Nuclear Security Agency (NNSA).

Your Responsibilities
  • Coordinate hardware delivery and integration as part of the Hardware Task Team (HTT).
  • Coordinate across three design agencies (SNL, LANL, Lockheed Martin) to ensure hardware is delivered on schedule.
  • Negotiate hardware delivery timelines and pedigree requirements with system component liaisons, test leads, and Production Readiness Teams (PRTs).
  • Update planners and databases and interface with hardware build committees to track hardware delivery and manage schedule projections.
  • Assess impacts of schedule changes at the NNSA and Navy levels and recommend optimal paths forward.
  • Provide oversight of the provisioning process for hardware with DoD partners.
  • Support test activities including reporting, Material Requisition Schedules (MRS), and pedigree documentation.
  • Maintain the W93/Mk7 Safety Case document to ensure hazards and control procedures at facilities are proactively documented and managed.
  • Ensure safety compliance and hazard mitigation, particularly related to high explosives and special handling procedures.
  • Communicate timely and effectively with Navy and NNSA stakeholders to manage program impacts.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM. Minimal travel is required for this position.

Salary Range

$117,500 - $235,700 (Salary range is estimated; the actual salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and any approved geographic salary differential.)

Qualifications We Require
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM field plus 5 or more years of related experience.
  • Experience managing projects and their execution, such as defining scope, developing plans and schedules, coordinating personnel and material resources, and tracking progress toward completion.
  • Experience with systems engineering principles applied to hardware integration and test execution.
  • Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent to start with the ability to obtain and maintain a Sigma 15 security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
  • Expertise in the hardware management tool, HAMS/ARAS.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, particularly technical writing, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a high‑energy, collaborative, team‑focused environment.
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of current Environmental Safety and Health guidelines for the State of New Mexico and Sandia National Laboratories.
  • Experience with activity‑level work and WP&C processes.
  • Proven ability to perform technical impact analyses, risk assessments, and hazard identification/mitigation, especially related to high explosives and special handling procedures.
  • Experience coordinating and negotiating across multiple organizations and stakeholders, including federal partners.
  • Programmatic perspective with the ability to balance detailed technical issues with overall schedule and program impacts.
Security Clearance

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or an equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Applicants must be able to maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
