Job summary

Cross Resource Group seeks a Cleared CNC Manufacturing Engineer for a 3rd shift, onsite in Andover, MA. The role focuses on turning design requirements into production-ready processes, fixtures, CNC programs, and inspection plans for complex 3D metal parts used in defense systems.

You will collaborate with Operations and Quality to resolve nonconforming hardware, lead corrective actions, and validate programs with VERICUT and CIMCO Edit while ensuring safety and efficiency on the factory floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• At least five years of manufacturing engineering or CNC process-development experience.
• Strong GD&T drawing interpretation skills and knowledge of high-speed, multi-axis machining.

Responsibilities

• Translate engineering drawings into complete manufacturing process documentation for precision 3D metal parts.
• Define raw materials, tooling, fixtures, workholding, machining sequences, finishing requirements, assembly instructions, and operator work instructions.
• Create, validate, and optimize multi-axis CNC programs; use simulation and analysis tools to reduce cycle time.
• Develop inspection plans and use metrology data to prevent defects and improve process capability.
• Support new product introductions, production, and non-recurring engineering while managing multiple priorities.
• Troubleshoot shop-floor issues with Operations and Quality and disposition nonconforming hardware.
• Lead root cause and corrective action efforts using CORE, Six Sigma, or similar methods.
• Validate NC programs using VERICUT and CIMCO Edit; document standard work.

Job description

Cleared CNC Manufacturing Engineer – 3rd Shift

A major aerospace and defense manufacturer needs a hands-on manufacturing engineer to develop and improve the complete machining process for complex 3D metal parts used in advanced radar, sensor, and defense systems. This engineer will turn design requirements into production-ready materials, fixturing, multi-axis CNC programs, inspection plans, and operator instructions while solving quality and process issues on the factory floor.

The best fit has at least five years of manufacturing engineering experience, strong high-speed and multi-axis machining knowledge, deep GD&T drawing interpretation skills, and the judgment to work directly with Operations and Quality on nonconforming hardware, root cause, and corrective action.

Location: Andover, Massachusetts 01810

Shift: Train on 1st shift with a 7:00 a.m. start for approximately one month, then transition to 3rd shift, 10:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m., Monday-Friday

Work Setting: Onsite in a manufacturing environment

Role Type: Contract

Contract Duration: Approximately six months; extensions depend on program needs

Pay Rate: $65.00-$76.25 per hour, depending on experience and client approval

Responsibilities

• Translate engineering drawings and design requirements into complete manufacturing process documentation for precision 3D metal parts.

• Develop inspection plans and use metrology and statistical process control data to prevent defects and improve process capability.
• Support new product introductions, existing production, and non-recurring engineering work while managing multiple priorities against schedule commitments.
• Troubleshoot shop-floor manufacturing issues with Operations and Quality and disposition nonconforming hardware within the engineer’s authority.
• Lead structured root cause and corrective action efforts using CORE, Six Sigma, or comparable continuous-improvement methods.
• Validate NC programs using CGTech VERICUT and CIMCO Edit and document standard work and repeatable machining practices.
• Evaluate automated part handling and in-machine workholding opportunities that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Communicate risks, barriers, and recovery actions clearly to engineering and operations leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
• At least five years of relevant manufacturing engineering or CNC process-development experience.
• At least five years of experience correctly interpreting engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Working knowledge of high-speed machining methods, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, and CNC machine-tool capabilities.
• Hands-on experience developing manufacturing processes for precision-machined metal components.
• Ability to work onsite on the 3rd-shift schedule after the initial training period.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• CNC programming for four-axis, five-axis, or other multi-axis equipment.
• Creo CAD/CAM experience and ICAM post-processor development.
• CGTech VERICUT and CIMCO Edit experience.
• Experience with automated part handling or in-machine workholding.
• Familiarity with paint, plating, structural assembly, and special-process coordination.
• Experience applying SPC, metrology data, CORE, Lean, Six Sigma, root cause, and corrective action methods in production.
