Job summary

VSO is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to deploy and manage Azure resources, infrastructure as code, and secure enclave environments in a high-security setting. You will build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive cloud solutions.

Must have 5+ years in Azure cloud administration, strong scripting skills, and IaC experience. Onsite work in Lorton, VA with up to 10% travel. Active TS/SCI clearance preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in cloud administration and development, focusing on Microsoft Azure.
Experience in secure enclave environments and familiarity with security compliance frameworks.
Strong knowledge of Azure services, including Azure Virtual Desktop.
Hands-on experience with IaC tools like Terraform, Azure DevOps, ARM templates, or Bicep.
Proficiency in PowerShell and other scripting languages.
Strong experience with automating the deployment of Azure resources via code.
Knowledge of YAML, JSON, Bicep and PowerShell.
Ability to contribute to key decisions and complex problem solving.

Responsibilities

Deploy Azure resources such as VMs, Key Vaults, and other core Azure services using DevOps pipelines.
Monitor and optimize Azure infrastructure performance.
Manage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and IaC tooling.
Develop IaC with ARM templates, Terraform, or Bicep.
Triage and troubleshoot IaC in the environment.
Design and manage secure enclave environments in Azure.
Ensure security and least-privilege IAM across enclave systems.
Collaborate with teams to improve cloud solutions and processes.
Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Support customers installing software on baseline desktops with automation.

Key Responsibilities

Deploy Azure resources such as Azure Virtual Machines, Key Vaults, and other core Azure resources using Azure DevOps pipelines
Monitor and maintain Azure infrastructure, addressing performance issues and optimizing cloud resources.
Implement and manage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like ARM templates, Terraform, or Bicep
Review, refine and troubleshoot new and existing IaC within the environment
Design, implement, and manage secure enclave environments within Microsoft Azure.
Ensure the stability, performance, and security of Azure enclave systems.
Manage identity and access management (IAM) policies, ensuring least privilege access across enclave systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance cloud solutions.
Troubleshoot complex issues within Azure environments, providing escalation support as needed.
Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
Azure AVD image building and rotation via automation
Designing, developing, deploying, and managing container orchestration through Kubernetes
Configuring and managing Azure Kubernetes Service clusters and the underlying infrastructure
Automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications
Provide support in assisting customers installing software onto baseline desktops using an automation first mentality (DSC or Packer).
Partner with leadership to shape engineering strategy and innovation
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
