Job summary

International Minerals Carlsbad LLC seeks a safety-focused Cleanup Supervisor to lead cleanup and basic maintenance in a heavy industrial mine setting. You will supervise the cleanup crew, assign daily work, and monitor performance to maintain safe, clean operating areas.

The role oversees conveyor-system inspections, material removal, washing, baghouse maintenance, and use of jackhammers and related tools. Experience in mining or heavy industry is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or trade school diploma.
  • Experience in mining, manufacturing, mineral processing, construction, maintenance, or another heavy industrial environment.
  • Previous team-lead or supervisory experience.
  • Experience planning work, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and holding employees accountable for safe work practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage workplace risks and hazards.
  • Ability to inspect work areas and recognize equipment, housekeeping, and safety concerns.
  • Reading/writing ability and documentation.
  • Working knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make timely decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise cleanup team during assigned shifts.
  • Plan daily work activities, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress.
  • Conduct pre-shift safety discussions and communicate hazards and priorities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Coordinate cleaning and maintenance of conveyor systems and surrounding areas.
  • Oversee removal of material buildup using jackhammers, shovels, washing equipment, etc.
  • Direct belt conveyor skirting repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Maintain clean, hazard-controlled work areas and proper tool usage.
  • Train and coach employees on cleanup procedures and Hazards recognition.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and other departments.

International Minerals Carlsbad LLC is seeking a safety-focused Cleanup Supervisor to lead and coordinate cleanup and basic maintenance activities within an active mining and industrial environment. This position supervises the cleanup team, assigns daily work, monitors job performance, and helps maintain safe, clean, and reliable operating areas.

The Cleanup Supervisor is responsible for overseeing conveyor-system inspections and cleanup, material buildup removal, washing, baghouse maintenance, and the use of jackhammers, shovels, and related tools. The ideal candidate has experience leading employees in a mining, manufacturing, processing, construction, or other heavy industrial environment and demonstrates sound judgment when managing workplace hazards and operational priorities.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Supervise, direct, and support cleanup team members during assigned shifts.
  • Plan daily work activities, assign responsibilities, and monitor work through completion.
  • Conduct pre-shift discussions and communicate safety expectations, job hazards, and operational priorities.
  • Ensure employees follow company safety policies, established procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Promote employee participation in company-sponsored safety programs and reinforce accountability for safe work practices.
  • Identify, assess, and help control risks and hazards within assigned surface operating areas.
  • Coordinate the cleaning and maintenance of surface conveyor systems and surrounding work areas.
  • Oversee the removal of material buildup using jackhammers, shovels, washing equipment, and other approved tools.
  • Direct belt conveyor skirting repairs and other routine maintenance activities within the team’s assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensure inspections are completed on conveyor components, including rollers, idlers, drive systems, and mechanical and vulcanized splices.
  • Review inspection findings and promptly communicate maintenance concerns, equipment deficiencies, and unsafe conditions.
  • Coordinate baghouse cleanup and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and hazard-controlled work areas.
  • Monitor the proper use, condition, and storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Train and coach employees on cleanup procedures, equipment use, hazard recognition, and work expectations.
  • Monitor employee attendance, work quality, productivity, and compliance with company policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with conveyor rollers, idlers, drive systems, skirting, and mechanical or vulcanized splices.
  • Experience coordinating industrial cleanup, equipment inspections, or routine maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety procedures, hazard recognition, and job planning.
Physical Requirements

This position requires work in a physically demanding industrial environment. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Frequently standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, balancing, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, and expanded-metal walkways.
  • Lifting, carrying, or moving materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with heavier work performed using appropriate assistance or equipment.

Work Environment

The Cleanup Supervisor works in both indoor and outdoor industrial areas and may be exposed to extreme heat, humidity, noise, vibration, dust, fumes, odors, oils, moving machinery, electrical equipment, chemicals, elevated work areas, confined spaces, and other conditions associated with mining and mineral‑processing operations.

The position requires the proper use of personal protective equipment and may require respiratory protection when designated by IMC safety procedures. The successful candidate must remain attentive to changing conditions and ensure the crew consistently follows all applicable safety requirements.
