Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is hiring an equipment engineer to join a team focused on world-class process/equipment maintenance and yield enhancement. You will analyze data, qualify new equipment, implement CPM changes, and revise SOPs while working in a cleanroom environment.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years experience, a relevant engineering degree, and skills in Python/VBA, statistics, and data analysis. The role is full-time and onsite in Austin, TX, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years work experience in engineering or related field.
• BS or MS degree with 3.0 GPA or higher in relevant engineering/SC fields.
• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language.
• Understanding of statistical methods and Lean/TPS/5S.
• Exposure to structured problem solving (8D, 7-step).
• Proficient at presenting and writing technical content.
• Experience with data analysis software and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work in cleanroom PPE and lift under 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor wafer fabrication equipment and respond to issues.
• Qualify new manufacturing equipment.
• Coordinate equipment qualification scheduling and downtime.
• Use software to analyze data and identify trends.
• Adjust equipment parameters and monitor process when needed.
• Execute in-line process/equipment changes (CPM).
• Present technical information within the department.
• Update SOPs and develop improved processes.
• Monitor operations costs and lead cost-reduction projects.

Position Summary

Seeking an equipment engineer interested in working alongside a talented team of professionals with a key focus on establishing and maintaining world class process/equipment and implementing yield enhancement as a competitive advantage along with ability to identify complex problems and implementing solutions.

Role and Responsibilities

Here's what you'll be responsible for:

• Monitoring the wafer fabrication equipment and respond to issues

• Qualifying new manufacturing equipment

• Coordinating the scheduling of equipment qualifications and equipment down time with manufacturing

• Utilizing software to analyze data, identify trends to make decisions about processing product.

• Adjusting equipment parameters as needed when exceeded and monitors process parameters when tools return from maintenance.

• Executing in line changes (CPM) to the process or equipment.

• Communicating technical information within the department through presentations.

• Continuously revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

• Developing improved processes to increase capability.

• Monitoring operations costs and develop cost reduction projects

• 2+ years work experience

• BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or Computer Science w/3.0 GPA or higher

• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language

• Understanding of statistical methods

• Experience with Change Point Management

• Good Presentation and Technical Writing skills

• Understanding of Lean, TPS, or 5S principles

• Exposure to Structure Problem Solving (8D, 7-step, etc..)

• Experience with Data Analysis software (Spotfire, JMP, Matlab, etc.

• Experience Troubleshooting Equipment or Process failures

• Ability to wear clean room suit and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per the SAS FAB protocol and be able to lift < 35 lbs

The current base salary range for this role is between $70,480 - $179,090. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
