Base pay range

$20.00/hr - $21.00/hr

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

This position will be a member of the Sanitation Crew for an avocado packinghouse and will assist in the cleaning and sanitation efforts of the whole facility. This position will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and master sanitation schedule under the direction of the Sanitation Crew Lead.

• Follow the schedule and maintain the cleaning and sanitation activities of the Sanitation Crew
• Sweep, mop, dust, and deep clean surfaces and machinery
• Lift, carry and dump debris in the containers
• Report any need for repairs
• Some equipment will need assembly and disassembly to be cleaned and sanitized
• Follow all food safety, QC and policy and procedures of West Pak at all times
• Under the supervision of the FSQA Supervisor, assist to maintain the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and provide continuous improvement and suggest ideas for improvement
• Assist the lead as needed in documenting and recording all cleaning and sanitation supplies and inventory levels
• Assist in assembly and disassembly of machine for purposes of cleaning and sanitizing
• Assist in diluting and staging cleaning tools for the purposes of cleaning and sanitizing
• Request new cleaning supplies as needed following West Pak Protocols
• Report any unusual conditions or malfunctions to the manager and supervisors
• Other duties as assigned

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 Years directly related experience in Produce / Manufacturing industry

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

The essential functions of this job require frequent standing, walking, and upper body movements. Specific vision acuity required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and color vision when cleaning products. Physical demands include bending, stooping, reaching above and below shoulder level. Lifting and carrying are also essential. The employee will also be in contact with chemical products and machinery.

Additionally, the incumbent will work near moving mechanical parts, stacks, pallets and may be exposed in high places and surfaces. There is moderate noise in the work environment. The incumbent for this position may be on call for emergencies according to the business needs, only when required.

The incumbent may be exposed to situations in which occasional lifting may be involved (up to 50 lbs.), with or without assistance. There will be exposure to situations of working in a hot or cold environment from 38°F-60°F and will frequently be exposed to hot or wet (humid) locations.
