Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Cleaning Ambassador to keep public spaces cleaner, friendlier, and safer. This on-site role involves outdoor duties, interacting with the public, and reporting tasks. The position supports retirees, veterans, and new entrants seeking their first job.

The role features a 7:00am–3:30pm shift, weekly pay, and pay advances before payday, as well as PTO and free uniforms. Valid driver’s license preferred but not required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred, but not required. We will train.
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the assigned zone with a rolling trash can and supplies.
• Acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting; provide directions and city information.
• Remove litter (fast food bags, cups, cans, cigarette butts, debris) from streets/sidewalks and alleys; remove graffiti from surfaces.
• Pull weeds at tree wells, cracks in sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Dampen wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash can lids and news boxes.
• Report unsafe or criminal activity using two-way radios and complete basic daily task reports in English.
