The Facilities Group National is seeking a Cleaner (Cold Environment/ Warehouse) for the Morning Shift at Kroger Shelbyville in Shelbyville, IN. You will help keep the cold storage distribution center clean, sanitary, and safe, with on-site training provided.

No prior cleaning experience required; duties include cleaning areas, handling waste, stocking supplies, and working in cold storage with protective gear. This is a full-time on-site role with standard safety procedures.

Position Summary

As a Cleaner, you will help keep our cold storage distribution center clean, sanitary, and safe. Your daily work includes cleaning work areas and common spaces, handling waste and recycling, and keeping cleaning supplies stocked. When assigned, you will also work in cold storage areas, including refrigerated and freezer zones. No prior experience is required, and you will receive on-site training.

Cleaner Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize assigned areas, including floors, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and other facility spaces.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and spot-clean floors using approved equipment and cleaning products.
• Collect, sort, and dispose of trash and recycling according to site procedures.
• Operate a pallet jack daily to move cleaning supplies and disposal containers, following on-site training and all facility safety procedures.
• Work in cold storage areas when assigned, using required protective clothing and equipment.
• Refill dispensers and maintain cleaning supplies; report low stock or equipment problems to a supervisor.
• Follow sanitation, chemical handling, food safety, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Report spills, damage, unsafe conditions, or maintenance concerns promptly.
• Complete assigned cleaning tasks and checklists within the scheduled shift.

Cleaner Qualifications

• Janitorial or commercial cleaning experience is helpful but not required; training is provided.
• Ability to work in cold storage areas for extended periods.
• Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures, and cleaning schedules.
• Ability to operate a pallet jack after completing on-site training.
• Dependable attendance and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Considerations

• Stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift.
• Frequently bend, reach, and push or pull cleaning equipment.
• Lift and carry cleaning materials and waste weighing up to 30 lbs; 50 lbs occasionally.
• Move cleaning supplies and disposal containers using a pallet jack.
• Wear required cold-weather protective gear and personal protective equipment for the full time spent in cold storage areas.

Work takes place in an active distribution center, including cold storage areas. Employees must follow all site safety and sanitation rules and wear required protective equipment.

• Time in cold areas: Several hours per shift, with warm-up breaks per site policy.
• Noise: Moderate to loud noise from equipment and warehouse operations.
• Moving equipment: Forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered equipment operate throughout the facility; employees must stay alert and follow traffic rules.
• Floors: Surfaces may be wet, icy, or slippery in some areas.
