Job summary

7Seventy is seeking a part-time custodian to support school buildings and network offices. Under the direction of the operations lead or head of school, you keep assigned areas clean, orderly, and secure during your shift and handle other related duties as needed.

Key duties include cleaning restrooms, classrooms, and common areas; stocking supplies; vacuuming and mopping; reporting repairs; setting up rooms for events; and assisting with light maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of custodial or similar work experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods for floors, carpets, furniture, walls and fixtures.
• Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment safely.

Job description

This part-time custodian role supports school buildings and network offices. Under the direction of the operationslead or head of school, you keep assigned areas clean, orderly, and secure during your shift and handle otherrelated duties as needed.

Primary responsibilities

• Clean restrooms, dressing rooms, shower rooms, classrooms, and common areas
• Stock toilet paper and other sanitary supplies
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors
• Dust and polish furniture and woodwork
• Empty and clean trash and recycling receptacles
• Wash windows and walls as assigned
• Polish metal fixtures and care for custodial equipment and materials
• Set up and prepare rooms for special events and other school needs
• Report needed repair work to the appropriate contact
• Perform minor repairs on building fixtures and equipment
• Wax and refinish floors and shampoo carpets
• Pick up paper and other debris from grounds and buildings
• Do light maintenance such as touch up painting when needed
• Help secure buildings and grounds during assigned times
• Move and rearrange furniture such as desks, tables, and chairs
• Perform other custodial duties as assigned

Skills and qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience

• Knowledge of modern cleaning methods for boards, carpets, furniture, walls, and fixtures
• Familiarity with proper cleaning materials, disinfectants, tools, and custodial equipment
• Understanding of safety practices, health regulations, and proper lifting techniques
• Able to keep school buildings or offices safe, clean, and orderly
• Ability to maintain basic records such as work orders, equipment repairs, and cleaning schedules
• Able to use cleaning tools and equipment safely and efficiently
• Ability to learn custodial procedures, methods, and schedules
• Comfort observing and reporting safety hazards and needed repairs
• Clear oral and written communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with others

Physical demands and working conditions

• Indoor and outdoor work with changing conditions and temperatures that may exceed 90 degrees
• Regular exposure to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noise
• Frequent contact with cleaning agents and chemicals such as disinfectants, floor strippers, wax, and solvents
• Direct contact with students, staff, and the public
• Work on ladders at varying heights
• Use of hands and fingers to operate custodial equipment
• Standing and walking for extended periods
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds
