Job summary

Solterra Academy in New Britain, CT is seeking a Classroom Support Staff member to assist teachers and support teams with academic, vocational, and behavioral programs in the classroom and school environment.

Under supervision, you will support activities, help students, implement behavior plans, collect data, and help maintain a safe, positive learning environment. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is available, with in-person schedules Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• CPR certification within 90 days of hire is required
• Certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention within first training course after hire
• Experience with children with severe behaviors is a plus

Description

Solterra Academy provides comprehensive special education for students aged 5 to 22 requiring intensive intervention due to severe emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and/or learning challenges. We believe in fostering an environment that is supportive, developmentally appropriate, and tailored to specific individual needs. Our dedication lies in the cooperative, self-motivated, adjusted, and academically accomplished development of each child.

Join our team as a Classroom Support Staff member, assisting teachers and support teams in implementing academic, vocational, and behavioral programs in the classroom and surrounding school environment. Under teacher and administration supervision, you'll provide support for activities, transitions, and implement needed behavioral interventions. Record student performance data and contribute to creating a safe environment through effective TCI and PBIS practices. This role may involve rotating among various classrooms.

$1,000 Sign On Bonus Available

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 2:45 PM (In-Person)

Summer Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM (In-Person)

Please note: This position requires a year-round commitment, including both the regular school year and our summer session. We do not offer summer-only employment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Previous experience working with children with severe behaviors is a plus
• CPR certification required within 90 days of hire (training provided by Solterra Academy).
• Certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention required with the first training course provided after hire date (training provided by Solterra Academy).
