Job summary

Caprock Academy in Grand Junction, CO seeks an Educational Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports classroom instruction under teachers, assists with attendance, transitions, and organization, and participates in duty rotations before and after school.

The position is hourly, non-exempt, 32 hours per week, with pay of $15.91 per hour. Applicants should have a high school diploma; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred or Parapro Praxis 1755 if no degree.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Without an associate or higher degree, a Parapro Praxis (1755) must be completed by end of the school year.
• Experience working with students preferred.
• Desire and willingness to promote the school's mission and values.
• Demonstrated effective classroom-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with peers and team members.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Help faculty supervise students.
• Participate in rotating playground duty before school, at recess, lunch and after school.
• Aid teachers in drop-off and pick-up duty before/after school.
• Facilitate the Pledge of Allegiance with students.
• Take attendance and organize papers and folders.
• Gather homework for absent students.
• Assist in teaching activities (P.E., small groups, need-based groups).
• Escort students to specials classes and maintain records.
• Grade student work and record in the SIS as needed.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and support student plans (IEP, 504, ALP, safety).
