Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Passing scores on WorkKeys or completion of 48 college credits.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Other requirements as outlined by the Board and the Administration.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervision and monitoring of students in classrooms and other areas.
• Assist teachers in reinforcing instruction, supporting interventions, facilitating learning activities, and meeting individual student needs.
• Administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher.
• Operate and care for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
• Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
• Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
• Assist in planning and conducting field trips and in instructional planning.
• Attend parent-teacher conferences unless directed otherwise.
• Keep bulletin boards and displays up to date and support group activities like reading aloud and storytelling.
• Assist students in the library or media center as needed.
• Check notebooks, correct papers and supervise tests and makeup work.
• Monitor attendance and alert the regular teacher to problems or info about students.
• Substitute for short durations for the regular classroom teacher.
• Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
