Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum 60 college hours from an accredited college or university or Praxis ParaPro score of 456+.
• Two years of consistent training and experience working with children in an education-oriented institution.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with exercises and the preparation of materials for class activities; work with small groups or individuals.
• Reinforce knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• Assist teacher with administering and grading tests, recording grades, and supervising students.
• Assist in kindergarten/elementary activities such as reading exercises, free play, basic health needs, and restroom accompaniment.
• In high school, may instruct students on computer programs related to subjects and operate computers to provide basic instructional assistance.
• Manage a computer lab, enroll students, maintain records, troubleshoot issues, and supervise students.
• Create bulletin boards and maintain student records and files; prepare charts and duplicated materials.
• Operate audio-visual equipment and assist in cleaning/storing materials after activities.
• Supervise students during unloading/loading buses, hallways, field trips, lunch, and on school grounds.
• Participate in staff development programs and communicate with school and district personnel.

Education

60 college hours or Praxis ParaPro + two years experience
