Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Must pass proficiency examination if required by State or Federal guidelines.
• Teaching experience or volunteer work with children’s groups is desirable and may meet requirements under No Child Left Behind Act.
• Under NCLB, an Associate Degree or 48 semester units from an accredited institution may be preferred for new applicants.

Responsibilities

• Assist in attendance records, seating charts, and posting grades.
• Supervise groups of pupils on the playground or in small group activities.
• Assist instructor in setting up classroom activities and tutoring students.
• Work with individuals and small groups in Reading and Math.
• Help evaluate the effectiveness of classroom activities.
• Help students develop good study habits using available resource materials.
• Perform other duties as determined by the teacher.
