Job summary

Vallejo City Unified School District in Vallejo, CA is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support the classroom instructor with planning, instruction, evaluative and routine duties so students receive more individualized guidance. Under supervision, you will help manage attendance, prepare materials, and assist with daily activities in the classroom.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• No Child Left Behind Act requirements; Associate Degree or 48 semester units preferred for all new applicants.
• Teaching experience or volunteer work with children's groups is desirable.
• Must pass proficiency examination if required by State or Federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in attendance records, seating charts, and posting grades.
• Supervise groups of pupils on the playground or in small groups.
• Assist instructor in setting up classroom activities and tutoring.
• Work with individuals and small groups in Reading and Math.
• Help evaluate the effectiveness of classroom activities.
• Assist students to develop study habits with available resources.
• Perform other duties as determined by the teacher.
