Olean City School District is seeking a Teacher Aide to support teachers and students in various duties to improve classroom efficiency and student learning.

The role includes clerical tasks, supervising students in different settings, assisting in the office, and ensuring a positive, respectful environment. Work may be part time or full time for a 10-month school year, with a start date of 9/1/2026.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and knowledge in a particular field where specialized duties are involved.

Responsibilities

• To assist teachers in non-teaching related responsibilities, such as making photocopies, correcting papers, filing, typing and other routine clerical duties.
• To work with an individual or a small group of students for skill reinforcement using teacher plans and direction.
• To monitor students during lunch, recess, study hall, field trips, assemblies, and school activities, and provide short-term classroom coverage when the teacher is not present.
• To assist in the office.
• To establish and maintain cooperative, positive relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• To interact with students showing respect, sensitivity and fairness.
• To support a positive school climate and school-wide activities.
• To participate in District professional development activities.
• To perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
• To maintain confidentiality.
• Takes attendance and distributes work folders.
• Operates audio-visual equipment.
• Proctors and assists in the conduct of examinations.
• Assists in toileting of incontinent children.
• Assists children in daily living skills.
• Helps in feeding children who need this service.
• Assists in transporting non-ambulatory or developmentally disabled children.
