Job summary

Airport Community Schools in Michigan is seeking a part-time paraprofessional to support students, staff, and families. The role requires a high school diploma, FERPA awareness, and strong interpersonal skills.

You will assist with instruction, records, and behavior support, under teacher direction, to help students succeed. Position is 29.5 hours per week on-site, with duties including read-alouds, test administration, technology assistance, and crisis response as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide positive communication between administration, staff, and students.
• Assist administration, staff, students, parents, and community with a courteous attitude.
• Discuss student progress or concerns with teacher, parent, and administrator.
• Report and record behavioral issues to teacher and/or administrator.
• Maintain records of classroom objectives and student progress.
• Support with behavior changes, academic struggles and discipline issues.
• Communicate professionally with parents, teachers and administrators.
• Understand IEPs and modifications to the educational day.
• Assist individuals or groups of students in completing lessons.
• Read aloud to students or small groups.
• Assist with practice activities, drills, and learning materials.
• Administer tests and assist with written activities and organizational skills.
• Assist students with technology skills and homework.
• Monitor classwork and homework completion.
• Support district behavior modification plans and crisis intervention.
• Provide personal care assistance and mobility help when needed.
