Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of college coursework or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with students with special needs desirable.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and families.
• Proficiency in basic software (Word/Excel) and classroom technology.

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assists with administration and correction of tests and classroom exercises.
• Assists in preparing instructional materials and strategies for individual needs.
• Maintains records documenting student learning and performance.
• Supports classroom behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervises students in non-instructional areas and assists with field trips.
• Assists with parent contact to promote effective involvement.
• Supports students with special needs to maximize inclusion and participation.
• Follows safety rules and may assist in training paraprofessionals.
