Job summary

Cincinnati Public Schools seeks a Classroom Paraprofessional to support teachers and students in the CPS system. You will assist with reading, math and computer instruction, supervise activities, and help implement individualized learning plans under certified staff supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or higher, an educational aide permit, and the ability to work with diverse learners. Immediate start dates and a 7-hour school-year schedule are noted.

Qualifications

• Combination of education and experience qualifying the candidate.
• Associate's degree or higher preferred; high school diploma or equivalent acceptable with experience.
• Passing of the Parapro Assessment examination as required by law.
• Prior experience working with children desirable.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an Educational Aide Permit issued by the State of Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively, problem-solve and work independently in a school setting.
• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
• Assist professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
• Assist with record-keeping to document student learning and performance.
• Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Assist students in non-instructional areas such as lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, etc.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Construct, copy and distribute educational materials as needed.
• Follow safety rules and procedures, including for students with disabilities.
