Job summary

Quillayute Valley School District Forks Middle School is seeking a Classroom ParaEducator to support instructional activities, assist teachers, and help students succeed in basic academics.

This role requires a high school diploma, prefers Spanish-speaking abilities, strong interpersonal skills, and compliance with ESSA ParaEducator requirements. Work schedule is 7.5 hours per day, 181 days per year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Spanish Speaking, preferred.
• Good Human relations and interpersonal skills.
• Must meet the ESSAPara Educator Requirements.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
• Administers tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of identifying student proficiency levels, enhancing students English language skills and supporting teachers in the instructional process.
• Communicates with supervising instructional staff, professional support personnel, and parents as requested for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
• Documents student's daily activities for the purpose of completing daily logs and student's hourly activities.
• Maintains instructional materials and/or files for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and meeting requirements.
• Models conversation, manners, cleanup activities, listening, and everyday interactions for a safe learning environment.
• Monitors students during assigned periods for safety and positive learning environment.
• Promotes good study habits for improving student outcomes.
• Provides instruction to students to implement IEP goals and aid in mainstream classroom adaptation.
• Responds to emergencies for safety concerns and referrals as needed.
• Translates verbal and written communication for students, teachers and parents as needed.
• Attends meetings and in-service presentations for information sharing.
• Performs other related duties to ensure efficient functioning of the unit.
