Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools seeks a Classroom Paraeducator at Sifton Elementary School in Vancouver, WA. The paraeducator assists the instructor, supports students individually and in small groups, and helps maintain a productive learning environment.

Hours are 7 per day (7:20 a.m. - 3:50 p.m.) for 190 days yearly. The position is permanent with entry salary placement and eligible for SEBB benefits, retirement options, and other leave benefits; background checks are required.

Hours / Work Times

7 Hours Per Day (7:20 a.m. - 3:50 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)

190 Days Per Year (180 Student Days/10 Holidays)

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 08/27/26.

Position Duration: Permanent

Classification Group: Paraedicators Class II

Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under the supervision of the classroom instructor and the building Principal, the Classroom Paraeducator will assist in the supervision of instructional activities, working closely with students on an individual as well as a small group basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist the classroom instructor in supervising and working with elementary and/or secondary students as follows:
    • Communicate effectively with students.
    • Assist in providing instruction to students so as to meet course outcomes.
    • Assist in establishing and maintaining a learning environment as specified by course goals and curriculum outcomes.
    • Assist in evaluating and specifying direction of instruction so as to maximize each student's potential.
    • Maintain accurate data on student progress.
    • Assist in administering and scoring formal and informal tests.
    • Implement behavioral management strategies using the emphasis and techniques that have been outlined by the teacher.
    • Assist in organizing and preparing a variety of instructional materials.

  • Previous experience working with students in academic areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.

  • Demonstrated ability or willingness to learn computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate the office equipment as listed above.
