Job summary

Crittenton Services is seeking a Classroom Intervention Specialist to support residential behavioral health, providing counseling and behavior management within a trauma-informed ARC framework. This role emphasizes student wellbeing, social-emotional learning and educational success, not a teaching position.

Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, implementing behavior plans, tutoring, and collaboration with education staff, IEPs, and treatment teams to prioritize client needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be 23 years or older per WV licensing
  • Must pass a background/CPS check and drug screen
  • Nonjudgmental, supportive, and respectful
  • Understanding and accepting of women of various cultural groups, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities
  • Prefer experience with behavioral modification

Responsibilities

  • Foster an overall well-being within the residential program utilizing trauma-informed framework with clients and staff
  • Provide supportive counseling to clients in individual and group settings
  • Implement behavior management plans as prescribed by Treatment Team
  • Provide support and tutoring as appropriate
  • Attend residential treatment teams, IEPs, or meetings representing client's best interests
  • Collaborate with coworkers and educational professionals to plan and manage clients in the classroom
  • Provide one-on-one crisis intervention as needed
  • Provide input, support, and implementation of individual education plans
  • Document all services daily to meet licensing and Medicaid guidelines
  • Coordinate with support staff to maintain client schedules and routines
  • Attend mandatory trainings and clinical supervision meetings
  • Report suspicions of child/adolescent abuse and neglect
  • Function as direct care worker in emergencies or staffing shortages

Job description

The Classroom Intervention Specialist will oversee and support classroom behavioral dynamics, offering counseling and behavioral management aligned with treatment needs. This role focuses on creating a supportive learning environment that fosters students' behavioral health, social and emotional learning, and educational success. The specialist will promote a positive, trauma-informed environment using the ARC framework and evidence-based interventions, but it is not a teaching position.

  • Document all services provided daily and to meet licensing and Medicaid guidelines.
  • Work in conjunction with support staff to maintain client schedules/routines so that appointments, extra therapy requirements, and visitations are met.
  • Attend professional training which will enhance skill level and required training of the residential program. This includes mandatory agency/licensing trainings and clinical supervision meetings.
  • Reporting immediately all suspicions of child/adolescent abuse and neglect.
  • Ability to function as a direct care worker in emergencies or other staffing situations in which immediate client needs might need to be prioritized.
