Job summary

LISD is seeking an Educational Aide to provide instructional support under the supervision of a certified teacher at 122 Brookhollow Elementary. The role includes assisting with reading, writing, and math instruction, materials prep, and student supervision throughout the school day.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree or two years of college, a Texas educational aide certificate, and experience working with children. Strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or two years of college or equivalent as required by No Child Left Behind Act
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate
• Ability to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Some experience working with children

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective tests or work assignments.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground.
• Notify teacher of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development and faculty activities.
