Job summary

Danville City School District is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional to assist in daily supervision and instruction of students under the supervision of the principal and supervising teacher.

The role involves following the teacher's directions, supervising students in instructional settings, and consulting on academic expectations. It requires awareness of academic standards, efficient material preparation, and collaboration with staff to support student progress.

Qualifications

• Requires collaboration with teachers to support instruction.
• Supports students in classroom settings as directed by teacher/principal.

Responsibilities

• Follow the directions of the teacher and/or principal.
• Supervise students in instructional situations as prescribed by the teacher/principal.
• Consult with the teacher concerning academic expectations for individual students.
• Become aware of the academic standards used in monitoring progress and implement those standards.
• Use time efficiently in working with a group of students so that each child is helped as needed.
• Use good judgment in interpreting a lesson and/or supporting teacher instruction in a group situation.
• Assist the teacher and/or principal in meeting the needs of each child.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, playground, and at rest time.
• Consult with teacher/principal concerning behavioral expectations for children in different situations.
• Observe the quality and style of teacher-prepared materials to maintain standards in materials prepared by paraprofessional.
• Correctly operate office machines necessary for preparation of materials.
• Prepare materials in the most time-efficient manner.
• Use time wisely so that materials are ready when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
