Job description

Overview

Classroom & Course Scheduling Specialist role at University of Maryland. This position is responsible for scheduling courses, course sections, classroom, and final exams, and for maintaining and updating all corresponding data in the university’s Student Information System (SIS) and scheduling software (25Live).

The Specialist is part of a cross-functional team providing a high level of academic support services to a variety of populations, including the Colleges and Departments, and administrative offices, to resolve course, classroom, and final exam questions and concerns. The incumbent must be able to analyze situations, facts, and information from a wide variety of sources and utilize knowledge of related regulations to interpret and clarify policies and procedures that impact scheduling.

The position is responsible for scheduling classes in SIS and scheduling common final exams in the 25Live classroom scheduling system. The incumbent ensures accuracy of classroom assignments in SIS and 25Live, and uses production and edit reports to improve efficiency and effectiveness in scheduling processes.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule classes in SIS and common final exams in 25Live.
  • Maintain and update data in SIS and scheduling software (25Live).
  • Manage inquiries and responses using Salesforce case management functionality.
  • Analyze situations and interpret policies related to course and section creation, classroom scheduling, and final exams.
  • Coordinate creation of Education Abroad sections, time release seat management, seats management for the Academic Achievement Program, and graduate course restrictions for the School of Business.
  • Create documentation, train, and provide support to scheduling staff; supervise scheduling staff’s student employees and manage workflow among stakeholders.
  • Review and recommend enhancements to scheduling systems and partner with the Division of Information Technology on system improvements and implementations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a related field.
  • Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
  • Proven organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; self-sufficiency and ability to work with minimal supervision; strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred/Experience
  • Experience working in an Office of the Registrar or other student records operation.
  • Experience scheduling courses, class sections, classrooms, and other non-recurring events within a higher education institution.
