SUMMARY

In collaboration with the classroom team, is responsible for assisting the Special Education Teacher with the implementation of effective academic and social‑emotional programming for assigned students.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Consistently applies corporate values of respect, honesty and fairness.
  • Improve health status of patients through customer‑friendly, geographically‑accessible services.
  • Assist in formulation and implementation of social‑emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs.
  • Support students with activities of daily life such as toileting and self‑care.
  • Collect and manage data on social‑emotional and behavioral functioning.
  • Prepare and present verbal and written reports on student functioning.
  • Assist with academic and social‑emotional curricula as directed by the classroom teacher and team leader.
  • Provide academic support to students as directed.
  • Prepare and submit required paperwork for student records.
  • Attend classroom team meetings, student‑related meetings, supervisory sessions, and staff meetings as assigned.
  • Observe all Bradley Schools policies, rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required, assigned, or directed.
  • Work in a psychiatric setting under stressful conditions; utilize de‑escalation techniques; remain calm during crisis; make swift, rational decisions; prioritize student care and safety.
  • Participate in physical management of students, including safe body positioning, blocking aggression, physically holding students, lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching, kneeling, and escorting short distances.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Baccalaureate Degree preferred with major in education or related human service fields.
  • Basic knowledge of data entry/management programs such as Excel. Training will be provided for those without background.
  • Bradley Hospital Safety Care Certification required.
  • Prior experience working with children is helpful.
  • Perform independently within department policies and practices; refer complex problems to supervisor.
PAY RANGE

$19.03 - $31.39 per hour.
