The Westmoreland Intermediate Unit is seeking qualified applicants for Full-Time Classroom Assistants within our Early Intervention Program at the Clairview School. The Classroom Assistant assists teachers in the educating and training of special education children. The assistant's role is to increase the potential effectiveness of the professional and increase the quality of instruction by freeing the teacher from the non-instructional activities of the classroom. She/he is not responsible for the design, direction or evaluation of the teaching-learning process. A classroom assistant may be used in any instructional situation only under the direct, immediate supervision of a certified professional to perform those tasks specified in the job description. The role of the assistant varies according to the program assignment.
