Job summary

St. John the Evangelist School is seeking aides to support teachers and students for the 26-27 school year. This role offers hands-on experience in elementary education and opportunities to participate in a faith-filled, team-oriented school culture during the summer and regular school terms.

The aide will assist with lessons, monitor behavior, help prepare materials, and support safety during recess and events. Training and collaboration with staff are integral parts of the position.

Qualifications

• Assists teachers and students with lessons, such as reading circles, centers, work groups, projects.
• Monitors student behavior and helps keep students focused and on task.
• Helps to create and maintain organized, vibrant and stimulating classroom environment which may include changing bulletin boards, displaying student work or seasonal/liturgical decorations.

Responsibilities

• Grades student work and posts grades to RenWeb in as directed by teachers.
• Assists in supervising students and upholds strong discipline standards in classroom and within the entire school and ensures that students are never left unattended.
• Performs other duties as instructed by classroom teachers.
• Monitors and oversees all students during both indoor and outdoor recess periods and ensures the safety of all children during recess periods.
• Helps to direct all students outside of normal class time such as during class changes, emergency drills, Mass or other liturgical celebrations, field trips and during drop off – pick up, etc.
• Participates, as directed by the Principal, in meetings, school committees, mandatory in-services and appropriate continuing education for professional development.
