Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of college or ParaPro exam preferred.
• Ability to plan and organize.
• Skills in human relations.
• Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students and parents.
• Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with diagnostic tests when needed.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on student needs.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set by the teacher.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work.
• Assist with drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
• Serve as the chief information source for substitutes.
• Assist with copying and laminating student materials.
• Supervise recess or lunch duties.
• Uphold the mission of Rising Sun-Ohio County Community Schools.
• Alert the regular teacher to problems about a student.
• Maintain high ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
• Attend to students’ personal needs.
• Record keeping as assigned by the teacher.
• Other duties as assigned by building administrator.
• Attend monthly staff meetings.
• Active participant in staff development.
