Job summary

Volunteers of America Upstate New York is expanding its preschool program and seeks a Classroom Aide for the ROchester, NY area. In a Pre-K setting, you will work with Lead teachers to support each child's needs and contribute to educational goals.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma and at least one year of classroom experience; a CDA is preferred. OCFS background checks must be cleared. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum one year of classroom experience with preschool age range.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred.
• Ability to pass OCFS Complete Background Check including SEL, SCR.
• Knowledge of NYS OCFS regulations strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Assists in supervising children at all times.
• Cover classrooms as needed to maintain ratios.
• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and comply with licensing and accreditation standards.
• Assist in developing and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons under teacher direction.

The center serves more than 200 children and families on an annual basis.

Job Summary

As a Classroom Aide at VOA, you would help to provide for all aspects of care and education in a Pre-K classroom. Working as a team, Classroom Aides together with Lead teachers ensure we are able to meet each child's individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing active, fully engaged supervision of the children at all times.
• Provide coverage in any classroom as needed to maintain ratios.
• Help to meet each child's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs.
• Assist in maintaining classroom cleanliness and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including state child care licensing regulations, accreditation standards and Pre-Kindergarten standards.
• Organize and Implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities under the direction of the classroom teacher, reinforcing educational goals, attending to the individual needs of the children.
