Job summary

Merakey seeks a Classroom Aide for its Mt. Pleasant program in PA to assist a certificated teacher with instructional activities for children with disabilities. Responsibilities include one-on-one or small group support, classroom management, and implementing positive behavioral support plans under supervision.

This is a full-time role, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, with a starting wage of $17.84/hour and comprehensive benefits. Bus duties and additional tasks may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with disabilities in a classroom setting.
• Ability to follow IEP goals and behavior plans as directed by teaching staff.
• Proven collaboration with teachers, parents, and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson materials and classroom displays as assigned.
• Supervise students in halls, cafeterias, and on buses as needed.
• Assist in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
• Record student progress data daily for progress monitoring.
• Support during parent-teacher conferences and classroom activities.
• Fulfill duties of a Behavior Technician as needed.

Position Details and Duties

The Classroom Aide is a school employee who works under the direction of a certified Special Education Teacher to support and assist in providing instructional programs and services to children with disabilities or eligible young children. The support and assistance include one-on-one, or group review of material taught by certificated staff, classroom management, and implementation of positive behavioral support plans. Services may be provided in a special education class, regular class, or instructional setting as provided in the students IEP.

• - Supervise students in designated areas and as assigned (e.g. hallways, bathrooms, cafeterias,
• - playground, gym, field trips, etc.).
• - Monitor all classroom students performance and record relevant data daily to assess progress.
• - Assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master and reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
• - Participate in parent - teacher conferences, as appropriate
• - Assist in bus loading and unloading of students from transportation.
• - Will fulfill duties of a Behavior Technician as needed.
• - Other appropriate duties as assigned to meet programmatic needs.

Earn $17.84 hour. Fulltime Monday- Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm.

• - Monitor all classroom students performance and record relevant data daily to assess progress.
• - Assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master and reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
• - Participate in parent - teacher conferences, as appropriate
• - Assist in bus loading and unloading of students from transportation.
• - Will fulfill duties of a Behavior Technician as needed.
• - Complete New Hire Competency Assessment process
• - Successfully pass safe crisis management training as required by program
• - Other appropriate duties as assigned to meet programmatic needs.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

At minimum, a Classroom Aide shall meet one of the following qualifications per Chapter 14.105:

• i. Have completed at least 2 years of post-secondary study OR
• ii. Possess an associate degree OR
• iii. Meet a rigorous standard of quality through completion of Credential of Competency for
• Special Education Paraeducators in Pennsylvania and 5 years of relative experience.
• Associate degree or higher is preferred.
