Job summary

Southwest in Tennessee is seeking a Head Start Classroom Aide to support a preschool classroom of up to 20 children. You will assist the Head Start Teacher with instruction and daily activities, ensuring program policies are followed and a safe, engaging environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED; a CDA is preferred. You must pass health, TB, drug, and background checks. Applications accepted through September 26, 2026 or until filled. Southwest is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

• Experience/training working with preschool children desired.
• Must pass physical exam, TB screen, drug screen, and criminal/fingerprint background check.

Purpose

The Head Start Classroom Aide is responsible for the day to day activities necessary for operation of a pre-school type classroom while ensuring program policies and procedures are being met. This position is accountable to the Early Childhood Development Manager.

Job Duties Include:

• Assist Head Start Teacher in carrying out a program of instruction for a pre-school classroom of up to 20 children


• serve as Teacher Assistant in absence of regular Teacher Assistant


• make home visits


• encourage parent involvement


• and work with other staff concerning enrollment and meeting the needs of families.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required; a Child Development Associate Credential preferred.
