  • Maintain an accurate inventory and assist in catering events.

Compensation: Classified Non Exempt Compensation Guide (Starting at $17.35/hour)

Location: Canyon View High School

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. The Baker/Cook will prepare and serve nutritious, cost-effective and high quality meals/baked items to students and staff in a clean environment. The Baker/Cook will support the National School Breakfast Program (SBP), National School Lunch Program (NSLP), catered events, and the AFUHSD Food Service Program
  2. Perform all duties of food service worker/baker/cook/cashier in a competent and efficient manner
  3. Attend additional training workshops as available
  4. Prepare a wide variety of hot dishes for students and faculty with attractive presentations.
  5. Adjust recipes as required
  6. Prepare baked goods
  7. Maintain an accurate inventory
  8. Assist manager in all catering events
  9. Knowledge and understanding of the National School Lunch Program, standardized recipes, production sheets and maintain portion control
  10. Comply with all Governing Board Policies and Regulations, Maricopa County Health Codes, National School Lunch Program guidelines, and Agua Fria Union High School District Food Service Policies
  11. Comply with School Safety Manual Rules and Regulations and OSHA requirements
  12. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues
  13. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community
  14. Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner
  15. Maintain punctual and regular attendance
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications for this job description are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required

Education / Certificate
  1. 1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  2. 2. Must have or be able to obtain within thirty days of employment start date a County Certification for food handler (renewed every 3 years)
  3. 3. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
Experience
  1. 1. Must possess excellent customer service skills
  2. 2. Must possess two years of experience assisting in a commercial cooking or baking operation
  3. 3. Must have knowledge of cooking practices, methods, and food service equipment
  4. 4. Must be 21 years of age or older upon hire
Communication Skills
  1. 1. Must have the ability to read and write instructions, standardized recipes, and production sheets
  2. 2. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with administration, staff, parents, and students
Computer Skills
  1. 1. Must possess general knowledge in the use of office machines and computers
