LOCATION: Transportation Dept. - Bus Garage

SHIFT TIMES:

• 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM during the school year.
• 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM during the school year.
• 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM during the summer (with ½ hour lunch).

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: HEAD MECHANIC

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Ability to supervise others.
• Certified mechanic or 10 years of experience in automotive/truck maintenance.
• Possess or be able to acquire an Ohio CDL School Bus Operator’s license.
• Own a full set of tools.
• Live in Logan-Hocking School District and be knowledgeable of roads in the bus-traveled area.
• Acceptable telephone manners and demonstrated ability to deal with the public.
• Good attendance and knowledge of engine and transmission diagnostic maintenance software.

REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor

CONTRACT STATUS: 12 Month

TIME SCHEDULE:

• 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM during the school year.
• 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM during the school year.
• 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM during the summer.

GENERAL DUTIES:

• Supervise diagnosing, assigning, and repairing district automotive equipment.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Assist in training garage employees.
• Assign, supervise, and inspect work of automotive staff.
• Establish and maintain routine maintenance and preventive care.
• Inspect buses for serviceability and safety; service buses as scheduled.
• Keep work area and garage clean, ensure safety, and maintain tools and supplies.
• Attend in-service and training sessions.
• Maintain maintenance records and prepare reports.
• Perform repairs on buses and other district vehicles, and prepare buses for annual State inspection.
• Perform other duties as required and promote positive public relations.
