Job summary

WQED Multimedia in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a Classical Radio Production Coordinator to support daily programming for Classical WQED and Voice of the Arts. This role edits interviews and performances, assists with playlists and schedules, coordinates guests and events, and ensures materials are prepared for broadcast and digital distribution.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in radio, audio, podcast, broadcast production, arts programming, or a comparable environment.
• Strong audio editing and production skills using professional broadcast or digital-audio software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple schedules, files, and deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with hosts, guests, artists, and community partners.
• Ability to follow established programming direction, production procedures, technical standards, and approval processes.
• Knowledge of or genuine interest in classical music and the arts and cultural life of southwestern Pennsylvania.
• Ability to work on site and support scheduled evening and weekend broadcasts, performances, and events. Evening and weekend hours are scheduled and compensated in accordance with WQED’s overtime policies.

Responsibilities

• Edit and prepare interviews, performances, promotional spots, cultural features, and other audio for broadcast and digital distribution.
• Assist the Program Director and hosts with playlist preparation, program scheduling, research, scripts, interview materials, and implementation of established programming priorities.
• Record audio in the studio and at performances, interviews, and community events, following established production procedures.
• Coordinate guests, recording sessions, schedules, and other production logistics.
• Prepare program elements, including metadata, for scheduled broadcast and digital distribution.
• Support live broadcasts, remote productions, performances, and community events, including setup, guest coordination, production assistance, and follow-up.
• Create basic video, podcast, and social-media versions of existing Classical WQED content.
• Maintain accurate production calendars, contact records, and organized media files.
• Communicate with internal teams and external partners to keep assignments on schedule.
• Perform production and administrative duties that support Classical WQED’s operations.
