Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND) in Brighton, CO, is seeking a Teaching Assistant (K-5) to support teachers in phonics-based literacy, Singapore math, and classical works. The role reports to the Dean of Faculty and emphasizes organized, diligent collaboration with lead teachers to help students grow in wisdom and virtue.

The position requires strong English communication, professional demeanor, and reliable attendance, with an hourly wage of $18–$21.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Creative problem-solving skills.
• Professional experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with the lead teacher to follow curriculum guidelines and implement a content-rich classical education.
• Assist with classroom housekeeping: collect, organize, grade, copy, distribute, and tidy materials.
• Build positive relationships with students and manage behaviors; support small group and individual instruction; proctor tests.
• Support daily school operations: supervise start/end of day routines, lunch, recess, and transitions.
• Mentor students using classical pedagogy methods and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with Student Services to meet IEP/504 requirements and maintain confidentiality.
