Job summary

Disability Services of the Southwest (DSSW) in Austin, TX is seeking a CLASS Program Director to oversee the internal operation of the managed waiver program, ensuring services align with state regulations and program guidelines while strengthening relationships with clients, families, providers, and partners.

You will coordinate enrollment, monitor service delivery, advocate for clients, participate in ARD meetings, and travel across the Austin service area to support community-based activity

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field with two (2) years experience in community programs for people with disabilities.
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalent with four (4) years experience in community programs for people with disabilities.
  • Case Management experience preferred, not required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competence with computer applications such as MS Word and Excel and have the ability to readily learn agency specific software.
  • Proficiency in the use of database and spreadsheet software.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance.
  • Must not be convicted of a crime, offense or misdemeanor as defined in TAC 97.241(b), relating to Management.
  • Must have and maintain current CPR certification.
  • Completion of agency’s CLASS training.
  • Must be able to type 35 wpm with 80% accuracy.

  • Advocate for clients and safeguard individual rights.

  • Participate in required trainings, team meetings, and ARD meetings as applicable.
  • Provide crisis intervention and problem resolution when needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Support on-call responsibilities and client care activities as assigned.
  • Travel throughout the Austin service area for client visits, assessments, and community-based activities.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all federal, state, and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent travel, community-based work, mobility throughout various environments, and the ability to assist individuals as needed. Physical activities may include standing, walking, climbing stairs and ramps, lifting up to 50 pounds or more, pushing/pulling wheelchairs, bending, reaching, and transferring individuals safely when required.
