Job summary

KYFS is hiring Class Aides for our Early Learning programs: Head Start and ECEAP. This position works with the teaching team to provide comprehensive learning experiences for children that will help them develop in an appropriate manner, based upon age and developmental stage.

And helps to enhance the parent’s role as the principal influence on the child’s education and development. The role is part-time, Mondays through Fridays, 25–29 hours per week, with pay $19.00-$24.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • CDA, Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate or degree preferred plus one-year experience in an early childhood setting, OR
  • High School Diploma or GED, plus one year’s experience in an early childhood setting preferred.
  • Current and former Head Start/ECEAP parents received preference for employment vacancies of which they are equally qualified.
  • Completion of a successful criminal history and fingerprinting background check.
  • Complete initial health examination, including TB screening as recommended by health care provider.
  • Obtain First Aid, Infant/Child CPR card and a Food Handler’s permit within 90 days of hire and keep current.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work effectively with children, families, community members, and staff of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to use effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to provide training and support to volunteers.
  • Ability to follow directions and guidance from the teaching staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written format, in English.
JOB TYPE/SCHEDULE:

M-F, 25-29 hours per week depending on work schedule.

PAY:

$19-$24/hr DOE

MISC:

Depending upon agreed upon working schedule, paid vacation, paid sick leave, and paid holidays on a prorated basis. 403b retirement with an employer contribution of 5% after 12 months of employment and meeting eligibility requirements.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work with small and large groups and withstand increased noise levels and/or loud environments.
  • Physical agility to participate, supervise events and classrooms as needed.
  • Generally good working conditions with limited or no exposure to extremes in noises, temperature, and weather conditions.
  • Must have the ability to assist child(ren) during emergencies and daily activities, including occasionally lifting and holding them.
  • Lift up to 60 pounds with or with out assistance, as well as move educational materials and equipment.
  • Stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and work with children on the floor for extended periods of time.
  • Follow universal precautions when caring for children’s hygiene needs, including toileting and emergencies.
