GENERAL SUMMARY:

Company-Drivers are responsible for on-time delivery of freight between Dollar General Distribution Centers, stores, and vendors. They haul and unload multi-stop freight to Dollar General Stores, return freight and rolltainers as required, and operate vehicles safely for interstate and intrastate deliveries.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Transport store-delivery freight, store returns, and backhauls over-the-road safely, efficiently, and timely, adhering to all policies and regulations. (40%)
2. Unload and reload freight and rolltainers at each stop safely and efficiently, including moving rolltainers onto lifts, unloading boxes/totes, reloading return items, and securing freight. (30%)
3. Provide professional customer service to store teams, vendors, and distribution employees. (10%)
4. Complete paperwork and maintain records as per legal requirements. (10%)
5. Ensure vehicle operation complies with all laws and regulations. (10%)

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

• Availability for routine overnight travel and any day of the week.
• Physical ability to squat, crouch, reach, push, pull, lift, and work in severe weather conditions.
• Ability to handle freight weighing up to 50 pounds and operate vehicle equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• Minimum six months tractor/trailer driving experience.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Must meet all medical and safety standards, including drug testing.
