Job Overview

The Swing Driver will operate various vehicle types, including Front End, Roll Off, Residential, and others, to service customers safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include delivering solid waste or recyclables, filling in for routes as needed, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate vehicles with automatic and standard transmissions, collecting waste and recyclables on assigned routes.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and complete required documentation.
  • Report mechanical issues promptly and operate vehicles using prescribed techniques.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and manage assigned helpers if applicable.
  • Follow all safety protocols, laws, and company policies.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Report accidents or incidents immediately and maintain accurate service records.
  • Assist with special pickups, route observations, and training new drivers.
  • Attend safety and branch meetings and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License A or B.
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate.
  • Ability to meet safety-sensitive criteria and demonstrate safe driving skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance.
  • Ability to maneuver trucks into tight spaces and recognize unacceptable waste.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to read and follow instructions.
  • Flexibility, physical strength, and ability to work in various conditions.
Physical and Working Conditions
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Work primarily outdoors in varying weather and noise conditions.
