Austin Powder is seeking a CDL Class A Driver/Operator to safely transport and deliver our bulk products. You will operate mobile manufacturing vehicles, support at job sites, and report to the Location Manager.

The role combines driving with hands-on labor outdoors, loading and unloading, maintaining logs, inspecting vehicles, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. You'll work at our home base location and at customer sites.

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges.
  • Maintain accurate daily operation logs and safety checks.
  • Trouble shooting and problem solving in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Drive 20-30% of the time; perform labor outdoors with hand tools.
  • Coordinate and deliver emulsion using mechanical controls.
  • Transport goods, inventory, hazardous materials, and cargo to destinations.
  • Maintain logs, confirm loads against manifests, track hours.
  • Load/unload and transport materials, overhead bin loading with fall protection.
  • Operate MMUs onsite to produce bulk products.
  • Operate bulk equipment to ensure product quality.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and report maintenance needs.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements and company policies for bulk/explosives.
  • Hands-on operation and maintenance of location and customer sites.

Job Summary

The CDL Class A Driver/Operator is instrumental in the safe and reliable transportation and delivery of our products, efficient in the operation of our mobile manufacturing vehicles, and provides labor support at job sites along with being a part of our home base location's success. The Driver/Operator directly reports to the Location Manager.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Maintains/operates vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional manner.
  • Driving time is 20 - 30% and remainder is performing physical labor activities using hand tools, shovels, etc. outside with exposure to the elements.
  • Ability to coordinate and handle mechanical mechanisms to deliver emulsion.
  • Picks up and transports goods, inventory, hazardous materials, and other types of cargo to intended destinations.
  • Keeps driving and delivery logs maintained, confirms the contents of loads match manifest documents, and tracks and reports working hours.
  • Responsible for loading/unloading and transporting materials and supplies to and from specified destinations, which includes overhead bin loading requiring fall protection.
  • Operates mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) onsite at customer locations to create a wide array of bulk products for blasting.
  • Masters the operation of Austin Powder bulk equipment to create consistent quality in our products to enhance our customer experience.
  • Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and reports any maintenance requirements to Location Manager.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements and company policies for the delivery of bulk and packaged explosives.
  • Operate mobile manufacturing equipment, which includes precise control of chemicals into the product.
  • Hands on approach in the daily operation and maintenance of the Austin Powder location and customer sites
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Valid CDL License and clean driving record
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to read and interpret gauges and regulate gauges to correct standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including product usage and safety checks.
  • Trouble shooting, problem solving skills to fix issues in the field
