Job summary

UNIS Transportation is seeking a Class A LTL/FTL Driver for the first shift (Mon–Fri, 9:00 AM–7:00 PM) to support our nationwide terminal network. You will transport non-hazardous freight with a focus on safety, accuracy, and timely deliveries.

Responsibilities include operating Class A trucks (auto and manual), coordinating with dispatch, inspecting vehicles, handling freight paperwork, and maintaining compliance with Hours of Service.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
  • Experience operating commercial vehicles including manual and automatic transmissions with a history of safe driving.
  • Availability to work Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–7:00 PM, with flexibility for extended hours.
  • Knowledge of FMCSA regulations including Hours of Service (HOS).
  • Physical ability to load/unload and perform vehicle maintenance inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate Class A commercial vehicles to transport and deliver non-hazardous freight across routes within the national terminal network.
  • Ensure on-time pick-up and delivery, maintain communication with dispatchers and logistics coordinators.
  • Regularly inspect vehicles and conduct basic maintenance checks for safety and compliance.
  • Accurately document freight-related paperwork (bills of lading, delivery receipts) and keep records up to date.
  • Uphold safety standards and comply with Hours of Service (HOS) and company policies.

Overview

The Class A LTL/FTL Driver role at UNIS Transportation is integral to the company's logistics operations, directly contributing to the efficiency and reliability of freight transportation within our rapidly expanding nationwide terminal network. As a key member of our transportation team, this position ensures timely and safe delivery of non-hazardous freight, aligned with UNIS's high standards of Safety, Quality, Service, and Efficiency. Operating during the first shift, Monday through Friday, this role plays a critical part in supporting our long-term client relationships and overall logistical success, while furthering UNIS's reputation as a leader in the logistics industry.

Responsibilities
  • 1. Safely and efficiently operate Class A commercial vehicles (both automatic and manual transmission) to transport and deliver non-hazardous freight across assigned routes within the UNIS national terminal network.
  • 2. Ensure on-time pick-up and delivery performance, maintaining consistent communication with dispatchers and logistics coordinators.
  • 3. Regularly inspect and perform basic maintenance checks on vehicles to ensure operational safety and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • 4. Accurately document and manage freight-related paperwork, including bills of lading and delivery receipts, ensuring all records are up-to-date and compliant.
  • 5. Uphold UNIS's commitment to high safety standards by adhering to company policies and industry regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) compliance.
Minimum Requirements
  • 1. Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • 2. Proven professional experience in operating commercial vehicles, including both manual and automatic transmissions, with a demonstrated history of safe driving practices.
  • 3. Availability to work the assigned schedule (Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM) and flexibility to adapt to operational needs or extended work hours.
  • 4. Knowledge of and compliance with FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) requirements.
  • 5. Physical capability to handle job requirements such as loading, unloading, and vehicle maintenance inspections.
Preferred Requirements
  • 1. Prior experience working in LTL/FTL freight environments with a focus on regional or terminal-based transportation.
  • 2. Familiarity with routing and logistics software or tools to optimize freight delivery performance.
  • 3. Strong understanding of freight handling best practices and documentation protocols for non-hazardous materials.
