Job summary

Sturgeon Services International in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a Class A Driver to transport materials safely between loading sites and customer locations. The role requires DOT knowledge, clean driving record, and the ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.

You will perform vehicle inspections, maintain logs, and comply with all regulations. At least 2 years of Class A driving experience and physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs are expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Reference SSI SOPs and SOP manual; understand hazards of hazardous atmospheres.
• Follow SSI and customer policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

Primary responsibility is to drive company trucks and complete specific projects safely and efficiently.

Job Description

• The Class A Driver is required to drive trucks to and from the loading sites of customer location (s).
• Will be knowledgeable of all applicable DOT rules and regulations; and all job related company, local, state and Federal requirements.
• Adheres to company cultural standards, safety polices and work requirements.
• Drives company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
• Helps identify hazards on jobsite and participate in developing JSA for job.
• Perform tasks assigned by Crew Lead or Foreman.
• Fill out permits correctly and have the appropriate information and signatures for the specific job.
• Develop a general knowledge of SSI SOPS’s and frequently refer to SOP manual.
• Be aware of the dangers associated with hazardous atmospheres
• Follow all SSI and customer policies and procedures.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Physical requirements

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in harsh weather for long periods of time. Depending on the phase of the job, all personnel are required to work in conditions where physical demands can consist of placing one’s body in various positions to inspect and accomplish certain tasks such as:

• Sitting
• Standing
• Squatting
• Climbing
• Raising and lowering objects from one level to another
• Carrying objects, holding in hands or arms or on the shoulder
• Grasping objects with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold and/or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens, etc.)
• Pulling, Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)
• Pushing, Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force (includes slapping, striking, kicking and treadle actions)
• Bending at the waist, stooping, working in a supine position, twisting seated or standing
